Annual Election/Meeting March 15, 2010 7:00 PM
(published March 9,, 2010)

Coming soon is the Annual Election/Meeting on March 15, 2010 @ 7:00 PM.  Please be aware that on February 26, 2010, the Board of Directors changed.  Barbara Lyons moved from the position of Vice President to President.  The Vice Presidency is currently vacant.  Our Treasurer is Georgi Smatrakalev; our Secretary is Alfred Picciones, and our Director at Large is Richard Frazer.  Rather than appoint another board member so close to the election, the Board is currently operating with four members.

As requested, meeting minutes may be an added feature to our website for those persons unable to attend a meeting so that they can be kept informed.  This will be determined by the newly elected board.  An owner can request to review the minutes by coming into the office, or via a file download in an email.  Our next meeting is for the purpose of appointing an election committee for our coming election.  Please attend on March 11, 2010 at 7 PM.

The next event hosted by  S. A. C. is our Annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner, March 17, 2010 @ 5:30 PM @ Clubhouse.  The cost is $8.00 per person and the menu includes corned beef, cabbage, and boiled potatoes.  A beverage is included with the meal.  BYOB, and bring desserts to share with others when you join in the festivities.

S. A. C.'s 3rd Annual "Pizza by the Pool" event took place on February 3, 2010 @ 12 Noon.  Humpy's Pizza delivered five pies, and everyone in attendance enjoyed the food as well as the chance to socialize.  Our Snowbirds well outnumbered the year round residents.  Next event is March 4th, @ 5:30 PM for hot dogs and hamburgers.  The sign-up sheet will be at the clubhouse so be sure and get your name on the list.  Also, check the bulletin boards for the St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on March 17, 2010.

Congratulations to Erica and Ivanir on the birth of their beautiful daughter, Melissa, born December 2009, and to Joseph and Jeanette Gallo, who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on February 6, 2010.  Some of us cannot stay married 50 days, let alone 50 years.

Each year beginning in September, our numbers increase as the snowbirds start trickling in.  By January, their presence is in full swing and Oakland Shores becomes enlivened through their participation in our events.  Welcome back SNOWBIRDS!!!

Our Covered Dish Dinner sponsored by SAC on Saturday, December 19, 2009 @ Clubhouse at 6:30 PM was a great success. With such a diverse community, we had a delightful array of culinary dishes.  Hopefully, each year we will have an increased attendance.  Take the time to join in a community parties throughout the year.

If you go to this web site,
www.LetsSayThanks.com   you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in  Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

Having started January 1, 2010  the one bedroom units will have a new maintenance fee of $240.40 while the two bedroom units will have a maintenance fee of $328.62.  The raises were proposed according to expected increases in maintaining and operating Oakland Shores by the budget committee, chaired by Anthony Gragnano with input from Gudrun Serr-Marinkovic as well as participating unit owners.  The Board thanks those who contributed their time and effort on the budget committee as this was not an easy task.

Please note that you can share your thoughts about any issue on the BLOG page.  However, no anonymous comments will be posted.  Just sign the guestbook and your email address and post your comment.  It does not have to be about the web site per se and this can provide a place for unit owners to share their views or even post questions.

Please come to the office at your earliest convenience to get a new blue parking sticker.  Place them in the lower left hand corner of the front window of the driver's side.  The Board will arrive at a deadline date so all vehicles are in compliance with sticker guidelines before ticketing cars.

Motorcycles are not approved to be on property according to our documents.

Please inform all guests with vehicles to park in designated yellow guest spaces;  no unstickered vehicle is permitted in an owner's space.  If you have an old version parking sticker, just go to the office with your license and registration, and get a new rectangular blue one.

Currently the hours for the pool and clubhouse are 7:30 AM - 10:30 PM.  If one is there after 10:30 PM one is considered a trespasser, and any member of the community has the right to call the police.  Remember A building is right behind this area and deserves to have some quiet time after this hour.  Also effected are the other two buildings in close proximity: J and G and sometimes the noise carries as far as B building.  Consideration and respect for others go hand in hand.

If you should witness someone knocking down the gate pole, please make note of the time, tag number, and contact the office.  In the event of an emergency, such as a broken gate, or a major leak, dial 311 from the front gate, or dial the office number.  During closed office hours, it will redirect to the emergency number.  Otherwise contact the office directly.  Make sure the office has a set of keys to your unit in the event of an emergency.

Our website
Sales & Services page will be accepting postings of For Sale items, as well as listing your Professional Services.  If you have a personal business and wish to share your contact information it can now be posted under Sales & Services, i.e. computer repair, plumber, exterminator.  At this time, there is no fee attached to advertising for unit owners.  The purpose is to assist unit owners wishing to sell personal items, and inform the community of services you may have to offer.  If you have a business website, a link can be established.  Please contact Barbara Lyons, Web master via this link to list your ad, or place your information in an envelope marked Sales & Services, and deliver it to the office.
